be required. A number of its home embed-
ded markets, including those for ATCA blades
and PC/104 family modules, will see meager
growth through 2017.
However, the company will be propelled by
its more lucrative box PCs and strong mar-
ket share within the COMs market, which the
company continues to build and which has
remained strong since the acquisition of Ampro
in 2008. e acquisitions of embedded PC sys-
tems providers LiPPERT Embedded Comput-
ers and Penta in recent years will also help drive
revenues in high-growth markets like medical
devices and industrial automation, and new
markets such as food and beverage. e indus-
trial automation, medical, and transportation
markets present the greatest near-term oppor-
tunities, as the company’s embedded products
and rugged devices are suitable for a variety of
eld applications within these industries. Fur-
ther, the data acquisition experience will help
to absorb some share from larger competitors
in these markets and the instrumentation sec-
tor, all of which require progressively greater
data management to accommodate IoT data
streams.
e company is positioned to be a premier
partner and provider for enabling IoT ser-
vices and solutions for a variety of ecosystem
players over the next several years. e com-
pany is reputable in having supported deploy-
ments in more than 40 countries across ve
continents for several di erent tier-1 OEMs. It
sees the growing value proposition of an inte-
grated product portfolio spanning hardware,
so ware, and (cloud) services, and realizes
that this level of IoT enablement is not com-
pletely met by its larger competitors in the
traditional embedded space. However, Adlink
is still smaller in size than some of its compet-
itors in the embedded space. Some competi-
tors have already brought embedded devices
supporting M2M cloud infrastructures to
market. Nevertheless, the company can adapt
more quickly to changes in market conditions
and end user preferences (e.g. wired/wireless
protocol/application support, form factor
use, etc). It also continues to make dramatic
steps in building its support for cloud-based
deployments and facilitating the engineering
of connected devices/infrastructure.
When OEMs and other embedded hardware
consumers make a purchasing decision, they
are typically investing into a multiyear rela-
tionship with and dependency on a supplier.
e double-digit revenue CAGR through the
last decade, strong pro tability, and solid rel-
ative growth among its competitors make it a
prime candidate as a partner and provider of
embedded technology.

Axiomtek: wide temperature
Pico-ITX SBC with Bay Trail-I
Axiomtek has launched PICO840, an ultra-
small Pico-ITX embedded SBC utilizing the
latest quad-core Intel Atom processor (code
name: Bay Trail-I) and supporting DDR3L-
1066/1333 MHz system memory up to 8 GB.
Considering di erent environments, this
industrial grade Pico-ITX mainboard is built
to withstand extreme temperature, ranging
from -40 to +70°C. Moreover, with superior
integration and power e ciency, this com-
pact size single board computer enables sys-
tem developers and OEMs to create smaller,
lighter, quieter devices than ever and embrace
the new possibilities across POS systems,
mobile medical monitor, compact panel PCs
as well as multiple embedded computer, sys-
tem and appliance segments.

Bicker: laboratory tested PSU
and mainboard bundles
Bicker Elektronik expands its Power+Board
program by two well-known mainboard man-
ufacturers. In addition to Fujitsu’s industrial
mainboards from German production, now
also bundles with embedded mainboards
from ASRock and Perfectron are available.
e three mainboard manufacturers excel
through quality, long-term availability and
an extended temperature range for indus-
trial applications. e scalable portfolio now
comprises four form factors: 3.5”-ECX, mITX,
µATX and ATX.

Bayer DSP Systeme: PCIe platform with
Arria FPGA features dual SFP+ cages
BittWare announced the release of its sec-
ond low-pro le PCIe board based on Altera’s
Arria V GZ FPGA - the A5-PCIe-S (A5PS)
. e high-performance, power and cost-ef-
cient Arria V GZ provides a high level of
system integration and exibility for I/O,
routing, and processing that enables Bitt-
Ware’s A5PS to be a solid platform for net-
work processing, security, broadcast, and
signals intelligence applications. Featuring
dual SFP+ cages that run up to 12.5 Gbps,
the A5PS provides dual 10GigE ports using
optical transceivers as well as passive copper
cabling up to 7 meters.
