IR illumination is basically everywhere, ranging
from industrial and automotive to consumer applications in mobile
devices such as face recognition and iris scan. IR LEDs are a
fundamental part of those applications.
Intel and Arm announced a strategic partnership
that aims to eliminate a major barrier to IoT deployment, reducing the
complexity associated with the onboarding process for IoT devices and
enabling customers to choose their onboarding systems without being
locked into a single device architecture or single cloud provider’s
provisioning method.
Choosing the right RF Inductor for your needs can
be complicated. This White Paper will help to determin all the
characteristics that Inductors need to meet your specific requirements
and how to find the right Inductor once the specifications are clear.

DIN Rail is a new modular concept from
MEN.
The system is based on robust individual components which can be
combined in flexible built-to-order configurations. The DIN rail
modules are suitable for a variety of embedded IoT applications in the
mobile and industrial market.

With more than 152 million vehicles
connnected to the Internet by 2020, it’s no surprise that engine
control units are easy targets for attackers and other
adversaries. This is supported by published reports on recent attacks
on Volkswagen/Audi, BMW, and Tesla vehicles. And as cars
become more connected, this trend will continue to grow.

Security is suddenly a hot topic. It’s
unsurprising, given all the talk about connecting devices and
implementing Internet of Things (IoT) devices, coupled with more
awareness of the potential threats from cyber-attacks. Recognizing
this, STMicroelectronics and NXP Semiconductors have both launched
microcontrollers utilizing the Arm Cortex-M33 integrating TrustZone to
enable greater IoT security.
Combining security with advanced process nodes has
become a challenge in recent years. This is due to the diminishing
alternatives for embedded flash when moving past the 28nm process node.
Winbond has introduced the TrustMe secure flash products to address
this challenge and remove the barriers for adding secure non-volatile
storage to practically any process node out there.
Designing a complex SoC by mixing and matching
different semiconductor IP cores is hard enough. The job gets tougher,
with higher costs and arduous process of the validation and
verification, after the SoC comes back from a fab, according to Rupert
Baines, CEO of UltraSoC.

The current HMI portfolio is being
expanded with the addition of a 15.6-inch Outdoor HMI with PCAP touch.
The SBC line is celebrating a new arrival with the NALLINO small form
factor board featuring an ultra low power ARM processor. Last but not
least this portfolio is to be augmented by the Wall-Mount line SANVITO,
which allows operation on walls. Hall B5, Stand 300.

charging IC and boost converter IC and a HVC ENYCAP hybrid
energy storage capacitor.
Electromagnetic threats have been known, and to a
degree understood, for almost a century. Nevertheless, it is only in
the past couple of decades that governments and military organizations
have come to realize the extent of the threat that
intentional/unintentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI/UEMI) pose
to critical facilities, infrastructure, aerospace, and land mobile
electronic systems.

One of the progenitors of the open
source hardware
movement is warming up to idea of designs that aren’t free. Massimo
Banzi, one of the co-founders of Arduino, called for ways to strike
commercial licenses for open source hardware. He also sketched out an
idea for an online store where Arduino users could sell IP they create
on a new Arduino FPGA board.

Following the expected update to the EU Official
Journal on June 15, and UL’s immediate response, the date for the new
62368-1 hazard-based safety standards to supersede the outgoing 60950-1
and 60065 standards is now harmonized in both the US and EU. The
“Effective Date” associated with UL 62368-1 in the US, and the EU’s
date have both now moved from June 20, 2019 to December 20, 2020. This
coincides with the EU’s declared Date of Withdrawal for EN 60950-1 and
EN 60065.
More and more real time applications do require a
very strong CPU capability, aside integrated peripherals. But, there
was still a question mark with regards to the amount of embedded flash
needed in these applications. The new value lines STM32
microcontrollers will ease this decision process and give more
flexibility to the developers.

On Thursday, October 11, the Soyuz MS-10
spacecraft launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on its
way to the International Space Station with NASA American astronaut
Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin. Soon after the
launch, there was a problem with the booster and the launch ascent was
aborted, resulting in a ballistic landing of the spacecraft and a safe
return of both astronauts to Earth.
Pasternack, a provider of RF, microwave and
millimeter wave products, has launched a new line of military-grade
MIL-DTL-17 RF cable assemblies with certifications, traceability, and

Current sense amplifiers (CSAs) are specialized
amplifiers that monitor current flow by measuring a voltage drop across
a sensor element. Although these devices operate at differing signal
frequencies, the CSA bandwidth’s operating range is only up to one
megahertz. CSA’s primary job is to monitor the power supply’s wellness,
where typical variations are slower than the circuit’s signal frequency
activity.
