Intel officially unveiled its ninth-generation
Core desktop processors, clearly targeted at smaller rival AMD's Ryzen
devices with a focus on PC gaming and creative professionals. At a New
York City event that was webcast globally, Intel also provided more
details on its new Core X-series high-performance processors for
content creators such as animators and provided updates on its 28-core
Xeon workstation chip for compute intensive workloads.

TSMC taped out its first chip in a
process making limited use of extreme ultraviolet lithography and will
start risk production in April on a 5-nm node with full EUV.
Separately, the foundry forged partnerships with four partners to
support online services for back-end chip design.

More and more real time applications do require a very strong CPU capability, aside integrated peripherals. But, there was still a question mark with regards to the amount of embedded flash needed in these applications. The new value lines STM32 microcontrollers will ease this decision process and give more flexibility to the developers.

Electronic instrumentation called data acquisition
systems ((DAQs or DASs) acquire data from sensors. They are often
extended to be instrumentation and control systems. This is a tutorial
presentation of principles of instrumentation that is typically
multi-channel, medium to high resolution (12 to 20 bits) and relatively
slow...
Combining security with advanced process nodes has
become a challenge in recent years. This is due to the diminishing
alternatives for embedded flash when moving past the 28nm process node.
Winbond has introduced the TrustMe secure flash products to address
this challenge and remove the barriers for adding secure non-volatile
storage to practically any process node out there.
From touch to voice and gesture controls, there is
no end in sight of the evolution of human-machine interfaces. Time and
time again, it is a new user interface — whatever it might be — that
has proven crucial in influencing consumer purchases.

The New conga-TS370 cost efficient
entry-level version for high-end embedded computing
with support for low-power high-bandwidth DDR4 RAM. Its fast 16 PCIe
Gen 3.0 lanes make it a perfect candidate for all the new artificial
intelligence (AI) and machine learning applications requiring multiple
GPUs for massive parallel processing.

Even though NOR flash remains attractive for code
storage it has
reached its technology limit. The solution is Serial SLC NAND flash
based on the SPI interface, offering a better cost per bit with
significant compatibility to serial NOR.
Last year’s Krack attack on Wi-Fi networks showed
the importance of engineering a layered security solution to promote
the success of the Internet of Things. Krack attacks the encryption of
the Wi-Fi radio signal itself, making the exposure primarily to data
sent without additional protection layers such as Transport Layer
Security.

On October 4, 1958, a group of MIT students
created a new unit of
linear measurement: The Smoot. Named after Oliver Smoot, the
measurement unit gained notoriety when the students measured the length
of the Harvard Bridge based on Smoot's height. But, the length of the
Smoot has since changed, requiring a recalibration in 2016.
Software vulnerabilities can manifest themselves
in many ways, but typically, they are exploited by abusing software
interfaces in ways outside of their designed operation. We try to
mitigate against this possibility with techniques such as testing, and
peer review, but we still can’t seem to avoid an occasional
oversight. These techniques all require human input
to analyze all possible permutations for all possible interfaces and
calculate potential risk...

As regular readers may already remember, I've done
a decade-plus
steady stream of powerline networking hands-on testing over the years..
In retrospect, however, I realized that while I'd done plenty of
evaluations of powerline networking hardware, I'd never actually peered
inside that hardware.
Analysts expect changes in the global electronics
supply chain following a report that Chinese spies planted chips in the
servers of nearly 30 U.S. companies, including Amazon and Apple. A
Bloomberg report, citing U.S. government and corporate sources speaking
off the record, said a unit of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA)
was behind the effort to hack into the operations of U.S. companies and
compromise the global supply chain.
Choosing the right RF Inductor for your needs can be complicated. This White Paper will help to determin all the characteristics that Inductors need to meet your specific requirements and how to find the right Inductor once the specifications are clear.
