This
newsletter informs you once a week about the latest news in technology
and products as well as technical know-how like white papers, webinars,
articles, etc. from AspenCore’s media, including EETimes, EDN,
Electronic Products, EEWeb, Electronics-Know-how and many more.

The
push for higher performance at lower power and cost has driven the VLSI
industry towards SoC integration resulting in designs with multiple
clocks. Often, these could be on the critical paths in the design from
a timing perspective. In such situations, you must test these
interactions for transition-type faults to achieve test coverage and
DPPM (defective parts per million) targets.

Combining
PWM with a small R-2R ladder improves both. It reduces PWM ripple
significantly and increases the DAC’s resolution. In this Design Idea,
an eight-resistor array and three output pins construct a modified R-2R
ladder. The modification is to connect the bottom 2R to a PWM output
rather than to ground.

The
current-feedback amplifier (CFA) started to gain wide exposure some
three decades ago, when it became available in integrated-circuit form
from Comlinear, Elantec, and Analog Devices. Since then, a body of
expertise has been developed, which has allowed for the CFA’s
application in myriad systems. Nevertheless, some misunderstandings
about CFAs persist to this very day.
In
this webinar we discuss three TI reference designs that help designers
create smart technology that can be integrated into smart home
ecosystems. These designs are easy to retrofit into existing homes.
A
common way to do an FPGA design is to create a project using your
design tool. Unfortunately, in larger projects – with tons of code –
this project-centered approach creates significant problems, such as
with attempts to use source code control systems or any other
systematic testing methodology. Using design tools in non-project mode
eliminates these problems.
This
webinar will show how the Ada language can help you design, implement
and verify embedded software that will be reliable, safe and secure,
while still meeting its performance requirements.

Many
of us, pleasantly surprised by the new French wave of companies at the
last Consumer Electronics Show, are closely following the vibrant tech
startup scene in France. Over several decades, French researchers and
engineers have accumulated a number of key technologies in the field of
imaging. They range from X-ray and far infrared to visible image
sensors, 3D imaging, and software.

Silicon
development in Europe is taking on a larger role, as pressures from
market opportunities to a decline in manufacturing development in other
regions foment increased business activity on the mainland.
This
webinar will show how advanced magnetic components help to realize
product safety, reliability and high performance for the evolving
electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The focus will be on all
relevant EV charging modes covering AC charging via IC-CPD or wall box
(Modes 2 & 3), as well as DC fast charging (Mode 4) and Inductive
charging.
In
this webinar, we present you the new CoolSiC MOSFET technology which is
enabling radically new product designs and offering a series of
advantages compared to the tradtional Si based switches. In this
webinar you will learn more about the features and benefits CoolSiC
MOSFET products are providing.
With
the continuing shift toward the collection of massive amounts of data
and more powerful tools to extract hidden insights, it can be
worthwhile to revisit the definitive and separate contributions of
"analysis" versus "analytics." As we look ahead toward new advanced
analytical capabilities, such as predictive and prescriptive analytics,
solidifying these fundamental terms can be a good starting point in
understanding what is possible.
A paradigm shift in how we represent data objects is needed to avoid building Silos of Things.
For the past three years, we have been analyzing trends, strengths and
shortcomings in the IoT space. What we discovered can only be described
as Silos of Things. Unfortunately, the extent to which things in each
silo can communicate with things in other silos is a function of human
relationships and mergers and acquisitions, rather than technical
endeavors.

The
U.N. started formal discussions on artificial intelligence weapons,
including drones, tanks, and automated machine guns. Tesla chief
executive Elon Musk and other experts sent an open letter calling for a
ban on an arms race of killer robots.
