Every electronic circuit has some noise and it can affect both analog and digital circuits. You can use the tools provided in many digital oscilloscopes to characterize noise. Once you have a handle on the characteristics of noise, you can work to mitigate it. |

A three dimensional form of graphene is being explored as a next-generation electronics material by a pair of MIPT researchers who won a Nobel Prize for graphene research in 2010. Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov discovered the new three-dimensional form of graphene -- called Weyl Semimetals -- which was predicted by the late German physicist Hermann Weyl.

Amazon released a version of its Alexa speech-recognition service to let developers enable apps for voice. The Lex service comes at a time when chip vendors, including Conexant, NXP and QuickLogic, are hopeful multiple OEMs will start shipping Alexa-like devices this year with their chips.
Thanks to surging memory chip prices, South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. could knock Intel Corp. from its familiar perch atop the chip vendor sales leaders as soon as this quarter, according to market research firm IC Insights Inc.
While listening to the many excellent technical 5G presentations at the Brooklyn 5G Summit, I heard the term 5G NR mentioned. For those of you who are not familiar with 5G NR, it refers to 5G New Radio. Qualcomm commented that NR is a complex topic as it relates to a new OFDM-based wireless standard.

Measuring high current in circuits such as DC power supplies requires shunt resistors. Unfortunately, those resistors affect the circuit's performance because of the voltage drop needed to make the measurement in the first place. Plus, shunt resistors generate heat that needs to be managed.

I needed to make a really low-cost swept frequency tone generator using just some spare op-amp sections and no parts that were sole source. Fortunately, the sweep requirements weren't terribly critical.
We’re all familiar with semiconductor diodes, whose function is to allow electricity to easily flow in one direction and impede its progress in the other. A thermal diode performs a similar gating function, only with heat energy instead of electrical energy. Up until now, this function has only been demonstrated in cold temperatures and at room temperatures
