SiLabs unveils latest low-power development tools at
embedded world Silicon Labs unveiled Precision32 software
and hardware development tools that enable engineers to maximize the power
efficiency of their 32-bit embedded designs. Hands-on demonstrations of
the latest low-power tools are highlighted this week at Silicon Labs’
booth at Embedded World.
FTDI: easy-to-use graphic controller for wide-ranging
display applications FTDI Chip has taken its first
steps into another vital application sector. Addressing the need for ever
more advanced forms of human-machine interaction, the company has
announced the release of the FT800, the initial offering in its Embedded
Video Engine (EVE) family.
ON Semi: DC-DC converter optimized for low load
efficiency ON Semiconductor has introduced the LV5980MC, a
3 ampere step down DC-DC converter integrated circuit that improves
conversion efficiency at light load. In consumer electronics designs, the
device is able to reduce energy consumption during standby mode.
Atmel expands third-party ecosystem for ARM
Cortex-A5 processor-based family Atmel has expanded its
third-party ecosystem of tools and software partners for its recently
launched ARM Cortex-A5 processor-based family of products. Partner
companies include ARM, Timesys, Express Logic and IAR.
TI introduces InstaSPIN-FOC motor control solution
With the new InstaSPIN-FOC solution from Texas
Instruments, designers can now identify, tune and fully control any type
of three-phase, synchronous or asynchronous motor in five minutes or less.
This new technology removes the need for a mechanical motor rotor sensor
to reduce system costs and improves operation using TI’s new software
encoder (sensorless observer) algorithm, FAST (flux, angle, speed and
torque), embedded in the read-only-memory on TI’s 32-bit C2000 Piccolo
microcontrollers.

Wind River joins OSADL to advance Linux in Embedded
and Industrial designs WindRiver has joined the Open
Source Automation Development Lab). With its membership, Wind River will
collaborate with other OSADL members to further promote and support Linux
solutions for the embedded and industrial
markets.
Rohde & Schwarz: analyzing power supply
units The R&S RTO and R&S RTM oscilloscopes from
Rohde & Schwarz are the right tools for analyzing power supply
units. Rohde & Schwarz also offers high end voltage and current
probes and now the new R&S RT-ZF20 deskew fixture.
PRQA: sophisticated and collaborative code
inspections PRQA announces a significant upgrade to
QA•Verify quality management solution. QA•Verify already leverages the
broad industry adoption of QA•C and QA•C++, providing team-sharing
collaboration, sophisticated coding standards compliance, metrics and
reporting facilities across multiple software projects.
Softing standardizes on IAR Systems’ embedded development
tools Softing Industrial Automation continues to rely on
embedded development tools from IAR Systems. The recently signed
enterprise agreement allows Softing’s development teams to flexibly shift
licenses between their sites in Germany and Romania. They also gain high
flexibility when it comes to the choice of platform, as the comprehensive
IAR Embedded Workbench supports more than 7,800 MCUs within different
architectures.
Reflex CES: 25-million gates or more ASIC prototyping
platform with partitioning software Reflex CES introduced
FPP25, a fast ASIC/SOC prototyping platform for emulating designs of up to
25-million ASIC gates using a stand-alone system. Based on Xilinx Virtex-7
2000T FPGAs, FPP25 exploits Reflex CES’ collaboration with Flexras and
Adacsys, to offer design engineers an easy-to-use, next generation
platform to speed up validation and verification of complex, high density
digital designs.

Kontron: with high-speed to hybrid CompactPCI Serial
applications As part of its 'High-Speed CompactPCI
Initiative', Kontron is presenting a 3U CompactPCI Serial (CPCI-S.0)
compliant chassis platform as well as peripheral boards for 10 Gigabit and
Gigabit Ethernet, XMC-based I/O and SATA hard disks. These building blocks
are already aligned to the new Kontron CPS3003-SA processor board
featuring the Intel Core i7 processor, so that pre-integrated modular
CompactPCI Serial system configurations with PCIe, GbE, USB and SATA over
backplane are also available to OEMs
lesswire presents solutions for integrating and controlling
multiple wireless standards lesswire presents their new
HWC Open Wireless Platform for the simple implementation of building
automation, energy management and medical monitoring applications at this
year's Embedded World. Alongside this device - soon to enter series
production - lesswire also showcase new embedded wireless modules and new
products for the Car-2-Car communications segment.
IBASE: modular Panel PCs with 3rd gen Intel Core
processors IBASE Technology releases modular panel PCs
IPP17A9-RE and IPPC19A9-RE that are powered by 3rd Generation Intel Core
