SiLabs unveils latest low-power development tools at embedded world
Silicon Labs unveiled Precision32 software and hardware development tools that enable engineers to maximize the power efficiency of their 32-bit embedded designs. Hands-on demonstrations of the latest low-power tools are highlighted this week at Silicon Labs’ booth at Embedded World.

FTDI: easy-to-use graphic controller for wide-ranging display applications 
FTDI Chip has taken its first steps into another vital application sector. Addressing the need for ever more advanced forms of human-machine interaction, the company has announced the release of the FT800, the initial offering in its Embedded Video Engine (EVE) family.

ON Semi: DC-DC converter optimized for low load efficiency
ON Semiconductor has introduced the LV5980MC, a 3 ampere step down DC-DC converter integrated circuit that improves conversion efficiency at light load. In consumer electronics designs, the device is able to reduce energy consumption during standby mode.

Atmel expands third-party ecosystem for ARM Cortex-A5 processor-based family
Atmel has expanded its third-party ecosystem of tools and software partners for its recently launched ARM Cortex-A5 processor-based family of products. Partner companies include ARM, Timesys, Express Logic and IAR.

TI introduces InstaSPIN-FOC motor control solution
With the new InstaSPIN-FOC solution from Texas Instruments, designers can now identify, tune and fully control any type of three-phase, synchronous or asynchronous motor in five minutes or less. This new technology removes the need for a mechanical motor rotor sensor to reduce system costs and improves operation using TI’s new software encoder (sensorless observer) algorithm, FAST (flux, angle, speed and torque), embedded in the read-only-memory on TI’s 32-bit C2000 Piccolo microcontrollers.

Wind River joins OSADL to advance Linux in Embedded and Industrial designs
WindRiver has joined the Open Source Automation Development Lab). With its membership, Wind River will collaborate with other OSADL members to further promote and support Linux solutions for the embedded and industrial markets.

Rohde & Schwarz: analyzing power supply units
The R&S RTO and R&S RTM oscilloscopes from Rohde & Schwarz are the right tools for analyzing power supply units. Rohde & Schwarz also offers high end voltage and current probes and now the new R&S RT-ZF20 deskew fixture.

Softing standardizes on IAR Systems’ embedded development tools
Softing Industrial Automation continues to rely on embedded development tools from IAR Systems. The recently signed enterprise agreement allows Softing’s development teams to flexibly shift licenses between their sites in Germany and Romania. They also gain high flexibility when it comes to the choice of platform, as the comprehensive IAR Embedded Workbench supports more than 7,800 MCUs within different architectures.

Reflex CES: 25-million gates or more ASIC prototyping platform with partitioning software
Reflex CES introduced FPP25, a fast ASIC/SOC prototyping platform for emulating designs of up to 25-million ASIC gates using a stand-alone system. Based on Xilinx Virtex-7 2000T FPGAs, FPP25 exploits Reflex CES’ collaboration with Flexras and Adacsys, to offer design engineers an easy-to-use, next generation platform to speed up validation and verification of complex, high density digital designs.

congatec: WEC 7 Qseven module based on i.MX6 ARM Cortex A9 CPU
congatec announces a Windows Embedded Compact 7 version of the conga-QMX6 Qseven module based on the Freescale i.MX6 ARM Cortex A9 processor. Windows Embedded Compact 7 (WEC7) provides a 32-bit hard real-time operating system with Silverlight support, a customizable user interface, a new multimedia player, Internet Explorer with Flash 10.1 and a powerful development tool.

Kontron: with high-speed to hybrid CompactPCI Serial applications
As part of its 'High-Speed CompactPCI Initiative', Kontron is presenting a 3U CompactPCI Serial (CPCI-S.0) compliant chassis platform as well as peripheral boards for 10 Gigabit and Gigabit Ethernet, XMC-based I/O and SATA hard disks. These building blocks are already aligned to the new Kontron CPS3003-SA processor board featuring the Intel Core i7 processor, so that pre-integrated modular CompactPCI Serial system configurations with PCIe, GbE, USB and SATA over backplane are also available to OEMs

IBASE: modular Panel PCs with 3rd gen Intel Core processors
IBASE Technology releases modular panel PCs IPP17A9-RE and IPPC19A9-RE that are powered by 3rd Generation Intel Core Processors based on the 22nm manufacturing process, also known as Ivy Bridge. The modular IPP17A9-RE and IPPC19A9-RE utilizes a module that houses the system platform with a 17-inch and 19-inch display panel respectively. This standardized combination allows easy construction and affords better inventory control. 

ADL: 3rd gen Intel Core i7 Quad/DC 3.5” SBC
ADL Embedded Solutions has announced its New 3rd generation Intel Core Ivy Bridge 3.5” SBC – ADL3GQM67HDS. Platform features include mini-PCI and PCIe expansion ports, support for up to 16GB DDR3 DRAM and video ports including DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI and VGA.
